Retail Fixtures & Store Displays Print

Stores need to be appealing and inviting to a broad range of consumer demographics.  It must take into account regional as well as economic differences.  The design of the stores and placement of the displays should facilitate traffic flow and sales objectives including:

  • Sales and service are should be separated so that they do not interfere with each others functions.
  • The traffic flow should be designed to flow freely through the store in a manner to allow the customer to sample all of the merchandise.

The merchandise displays should be designed to fit multiple floor plans and yet maintain as visual community no matter what configuration is dictated.

  • On site modifications to the various display units to achieve this continuity should be seriously avoided due to the cost ramifications.

The entire store environment needs to convey your branded image.  This is done through repetitious use of color, shapes and logos.  There is an old advertising axiom that remains as true today as when it was first stated.

"Repetition gains share of mind.  Share of mind means share of market.  Share of market means share of sales."

The use of color should support the branded image as well as put the customer at ease and influence their buying habits.

Store costs directly relate to the ability of the franchisers to attract franchisees.  It is therefore a distinct advantage to offer the franchisee a modular designed store that can be rapidly installed anywhere at low cost.

The stores must be designed and engineered to be manageable for multi-state shipping and installations.  This includes warehousing, packing, shipping and on-time delivery at the installation site. The units must be sized to be transported with or without tailgates.  They must be sized to go through corridors, narrow doors and fit in to low ceiling installations.
